My running journey started about 5 years ago. I was in my late fifties when my family challenged me to do Couch to 5k, then Parkrun.
In 2022 my daughter challenged me to do the Edinburgh Women’s 10k. Until then I’d only ever run on my own. I joined the WRE 10k group. What an amazing supportive group of women. The training sessions flew in with company, encouragement and good chat. I’ve also done some WRE social runs, again the kms fly in with the distraction of other lovely like minded people. Even Dundas Street feels achievable!
Now, I’m training for Edinburgh Half Marathon and I would never have thought this possible without WRE community.
If you are starting on your running journey, just go for it! It’s not about being the fastest, it’s about achieving your own goals. It’s about you and your achievements. Oh, and get the best running shoes and sports bra you can!
